Wedding Card

Hello my fellow crafters

Just wanted to show you the first card that I have ever been commissioned to make.  I have never been asked before which is probably just as well as I hardly ever have time to make my own cards.
I decided to use a lovely stamp called I do by Lili of the Valley as the card was for a Handfasting Ceremony and I liked how the two characters were holding each others arms and that the bouquet on the floor looked a little like a decorated broom which is a part of the ceremony.

I used my Timeless victorian Pad again as I just love the way the papers fit together so well, and I coloured my image with Spectrum Noir pens to match the colours of the papers. For the base I started with a basic easel card.

I die cut a heart and embossed it then inked it with a little weathered wood distress ink from Tim Holtz. Then I added a florish from a die from Memory box and a strip of lace.

The tag was die cut around a sentiment from Bev Rochesters wonderful blog I actually Used one of her cards as my main inspiration, she is so talented. I threaded some purple cord through the tag to draw on the idea of the Hand-tying

I used the same technique on the ground that I used on the teddy bear on a previous card which involved dotting on colours light over dark to give texture.

I chose white for my spray at the corners and curled the wires for a more professional touch.  I backed them with another Memory box die cut, and added a few pearls on the tips.

I topped a lace bow with a die cut embossed heart to ballance the left side and again used a few pearls to highlight.

Bottom left I added a small bunch of flowers all in white and left the stems showing tying it together with a little white satin ribbon.
Bottom right I used a sentiment stamp from Lili of the valley stamped onto white card then inked with the weathered wood destress ink.

Then a last sprig of flowers on the base of the card

This is the box I made to hold the card again using the Timeless Victorian pad.  I penned a brief verse and printed it out to use as the central image.

Here is the finished card wrapped in tissue in its box.

Finnally I printed an insert leaving room for the giver to write a personal message ready to attach to the back of the card.

Thank you for stopping by, I would love to know what you think so please leave me a comment if you have time.  Bye for now Maria xx

  3. Hi Maria, I spotted your card on the LOTV challenge and wanted to have a look as I'd done a wedding card too. Yours is amazing! What a lot of detail and time and effort you have put into it - even the box and the decoration on the lid. I think it's gorgeous and will surely be well received and treasured. I hope you charged a decent price for all that hard work! Emma at Card Therapy xxx
